PEA Committees

The Porterville Educators Association is forming educator-led committees to ensure educators are heard, supported, and recognized while strengthening our ability to organize more effectively as an Association. These committees will engage in advocacy, member support, and community service, helping elevate educator voice as PEA wants to meet regularly with School Board members and the Superintendent to share what is working, address ongoing challenges, and recognize outstanding colleagues. Even limited participation makes a meaningful impact—sign up and help us build a stronger, more organized PEA.

Concerns Committees

Focus on identifying patterns, systemic issues, and shared needs through qualitative and quantitative educator data.

Elementary: To identify elementary-specific instructional and working-condition issues.
Middle School: To surface systemic issues unique to middle school instructional models and adolescent development.
High School: To identify instructional, scheduling, and workload challenges unique to high school settings.
Music/Fine Arts: To address unique instructional, workload, and resource issues faced by music and fine arts educators.
Counselors: To identify systemic counseling-related issues impacting student services, caseloads, compliance, and working conditions.
Special Education: To document systemic special education challenges affecting educators, students, and legal compliance.
First-Year Teachers: To identify structural barriers and support gaps affecting early-career educators.
School Safety: To promote a safe, secure, and supportive educational environment for all students, staff, and community members by informing stakeholders of applicable state and federal laws and proactively identifying potential risks.

Support, Educate, & Advocate (SEA) Committees

Focus on educating and supporting teachers on important issues and finding ways in advocating for our community!

Financial Literacy: To educate members on compensation, retirement, and long-term financial planning.
Health Benefits: To support members in understanding and navigating health benefits.
Community Outreach: To strengthen relationships between educators, families, and the broader community.
Communication/Social Media: To communicate union messaging clearly, accurately, and strategically through emails and outlets such as Instagram, Facebook, Youtube and union website (www.wearepea.org)
Grievance Support: To support members in understanding their contractual rights and grievance processes.
Negotiation Team: Representing PEA during negotiations with the district.
School Board & District Accountability: Attending school board meetings, analyze LCFF, monitoring grants, meeting with school board members and superintendent.
Site Rep: Attend monthly meetings at the PEA office and provide union support at your school site.
