On Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 4:30 PM, certificated staff, classified staff, fellow teacher unions, and community members gathered at the PUSD Governing Board to stand together in solidarity for our teachers.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who came out to show support and raise awareness of the challenges our educators are facing. Your presence reminds us that our community values and stands behind the people who dedicate their lives to teaching and supporting students every day.
Thank you for walking alongside us—your support truly makes a difference.

This powerful message on our union T-shirts reflects our collective stand for fairness and justice. As we continue to raise concerns about Article 34, we reaffirm that all educators deserve due process in matters of discipline. Without it, our rights—and the integrity of our profession—are at risk.
We also call for full transparency from the district on salary practices and health benefits. Educators deserve to know how compensation and coverage decisions are made—because fair pay and quality health care are not perks; they are necessities.
On Friday, August 15th, PEA members across the district wore black or their union T-shirts to bring awareness to these critical issues. Our unity sends a clear message: we stand together for respect, transparency, and being treated as professionals.
Leaders from Executive Boards, Bargaining Teams, Site Reps, Grievance Teams, and others representing over twenty educators’ associations from Kings and Tulare Counties came together to discuss key issues and share strategies to help ensure a strong and successful school year ahead.
We were honored to welcome UTLA President Cecily Myart-Cruz as our guest speaker. Her inspiring leadership, experience, and energy provided just the motivation our members needed as we move forward together.
We extend our deep gratitude to Cecily and to our fellow associations across the region for their continued support and solidarity. Together, we remain committed to advocating for what is best for our students, our profession, and our community.
Thank You, PEA Members!
Thank you to all PEA members who were able to attend our first meeting of the school year! The Executive Board and UniServ provided important updates regarding the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Please note: The Impasse meeting is scheduled for Friday, August 15th. We will share an update shortly afterward.
